Step-by-step setup
Work out who this screen belongs to
It determines which player you install, and the choice is genuinely different rather than a matter of taste. A screen dominated by one person who watches fixtures wants TiViMate. A screen several people share, or one where somebody occasionally helps a less confident relative, wants Smarters, because it is the same app they will meet on every other device in the house.
Confirm the Google account before you search
The Play Store lets you browse signed out and then fails at the moment of installing, explaining nothing about why. Thirty seconds checking saves that. On Google TV the store sits under Apps rather than on the front row.
Install the one you chose
TiViMate IPTV Player or IPTV Smarters Pro. Both are free to install; TiViMate's paid tier is bought elsewhere and is not needed today. Ignore anything with a name one letter away from either — those exist and they are not the same products.
Hand it the account
TiViMate asks for Add playlist and then offers Xtream Codes login; Smarters words it as Login with Xtream Codes API. Same three values either way. Neither wants an M3U file, and if you find yourself searching your messages for one you have taken a wrong turn — go back one screen.
Wait for it to finish before forming a view
The first retrieval of channels and programme data takes a minute or two. A half-loaded guide is indistinguishable from a broken one, and a good proportion of poor first impressions are formed about thirty seconds too early. Let it settle.
Add the second and third screens while you are here
The same three credentials configure the bedroom television, a tablet and a phone, each in about two minutes once the first is done. There is no device allowance being consumed — your plan limits simultaneous playback only. Households that configure just the main television consistently under-use this and then compare it against subscriptions that were on every device they owned, which is not a fair test of anything.
Tune this device for this person
Hide the categories nobody here opens, pin the ones they do, set the language. TiViMate keeps all of it under Settings, Playlists. It is the dullest instruction on the page and it decides whether the screen is still pleasant in March. Do it per device — that is the whole point of a household account.
Set the refresh and the decoder
Settings, TV guide, refresh every twelve hours. Then confirm hardware decoding in the player settings. On a weak box, software decoding stutters above 1080p and the stream takes the blame. Between them these two settings account for most complaints that turn out not to be complaints at all.
If it is the sport screen, look at multi-view now
TiViMate Premium composites two matches into one window locally, which means your account sees a single stream rather than two. A household on two screens can therefore run two fixtures on this television and still have somebody watching something entirely different elsewhere. Worth knowing before you conclude you need a bigger tier.
Common errors and fixes
The app is not in the store on this box
Cheaper boxes sometimes run the phone build of Android, which hides television-only listings altogether. Sideload the APK with Downloader exactly as the Firestick page describes; it behaves identically, you simply lose automatic updates.
No programme data
Let the first load finish, then run Update EPG from the settings. The guide source travels with the login on this platform, so no separate address needs pasting anywhere. Where one is genuinely required, support has it — but exhaust the ordinary explanation first.
Everything stutters regardless of setting
Budget Android boxes are frequently advertised with specifications that are not true. Check hardware decoding, then check what the device actually contains. Below 2 GB of memory there is no setting that rescues it, and the honest answer is that the box was the problem all along.
A stream was refused mid-evening
The tier, not the app — and every player reports it unhelpfully. Total up what is playing across the whole house before reporting anything, phones included. This is the commonest message we receive from households on two screens who have four devices signed in.

Android TV IPTV FAQ
What should I actually buy?
Chromecast with Google TV 4K for most people. An Nvidia Shield if this is a heavily used main television and you want it to feel fast for years, accepting that it costs more than a year of subscription. For an unbranded box, insist on 2 GB of memory and an ethernet socket, and treat the listing as advertising.
Does Chromecast with Google TV count as Android TV?
Yes — same system underneath, same Play Store, same instructions. For the money it is among the tidiest ways to bring a screen into this, and it is what we would suggest to a household starting with nothing.
Can different screens run different players?
Completely normally, and most households end up that way. The account does not know or care which player is asking. TiViMate where the guide earns its keep, Smarters everywhere else, one set of credentials across all of it.
How much storage does it need?
The app is about 100 MB and its cached guide perhaps 50 more — less than most streaming apps keep in downloads. The exception is TiViMate recordings, which default to internal storage and will fill a cheap box quickly. Point them at a USB drive before anybody starts recording.
How long before we know which tier we need?
About a fortnight, because a household's habits show up weekly rather than daily. One evening tells you whether the picture holds; two weeks tell you how often three screens genuinely ran together. Buying five screens on the strength of one chaotic Saturday is the commonest way people overpay here.
Will the guide work on a cheap box?
It will load, but rendering a programme grid across thousands of channels is the job that exposes a weak processor. If the guide feels sluggish and everything else is fine, that is the box rather than the data. Trimming the categories helps considerably, and on hardware under 2 GB of memory it is the only thing that will.
