Ask for the right number of screens
This is the part people skip and then regret. A single-screen trial cannot tell you whether three screens hold together at nine o'clock, so it cannot answer the question you are actually asking. What to actually test
Create the collision deliberately. Put a live match on the main television, cartoons on a tablet and a box set on a laptop, all at the same moment, and leave them running for a while. One channel playing beautifully on a quiet Tuesday tells you nothing about the night you bought this for. Then check the specific things your household cares about: whether the competition somebody follows is present and holds up during a real fixture, and whether the international channels carry the actual national broadcasters rather than three leftovers.
What a single evening cannot tell you
Whether the picture holds during a title fight in four months, for one — capacity is proved over time, which is what the refund window behind the purchase is for. It also will not tell you how the household feels about losing a platform's interface, its downloads for journeys, or its children's profiles. Those are real, the platforms do them better, and if they matter in your house it is better to weigh them now than in week two.
Why the free playlists are not the comparison
Some people arrive having tried the free M3U lists posted on code-sharing sites. Those are scraped feeds republished for anyone to take, so thousands of strangers hit one source at once and it collapses, usually inside a week.
